Oil Painting: August Heat: Dahlias // 16" x 20"

$480.00

The oil paintings in this collection were created to capture my first year of motherhood. In the extreme hustle and change that came, I aimed to set aside time to observe, sit, and study. I wanted to recommit to myself when everything outside of me told me my life was no longer my own. I wanted to paint again.

The beauty of slowing down invites lingering gazes where suddenly the world is filled with colors unseen to the busy eye. As summer neared an end the days were long and hot, symbolized by the vibrant dahlias.

Sunlight shifted to an angle, and the shadows changed. A busier day would have missed the way the breeze seemed to move the light.

Collected antiques, worn wood, and a cobalt hobnail glass became surfaces for color to dance across.

The background seems to melt, almost drip with the sunny heat, as foliage warms and reaches for the light. This modern aesthetic feels stylish, unfussy, and elegant all at the same time.

Measurements:

16" x 20" x 1.5”
