Ceramic Design School: Coming Soon

Coming in early 2022 we’re releasing an online program just for potters! You may have heard about Ceramic Design School over on instagram, or maybe you even joined during our beta launch in fall 2021, in which case— thank you! For those of you who aren’t yet familiar with this program let’s talk about it below:

Who is it for? This program is for potters of all skill levels— you must have a basic understanding of pottery making before enrolling in this program. We’ll use technical jargon like bisque, leather hard, and slip conversationally in this program without explanation. Your making abilities can range from beginner to expert, that won’t matter as long as you know how to make pottery in some way before you take this program. This program will not teach you how to make pottery for the first time.

What will I learn? You’ll learn how to develop (or fine tune) your creative voice as a potter. We’ll explore the Formal Elements of Design and create pottery projects based on those lessons. You’ll finish each unit (there are 8 total) with a collection of work designed to push your creativity. (Fun little tip: you can sell these works and the program pays for itself many times over!)

Do I need a pottery wheel? No. Every project comes with the flexibility to make your pottery on a wheel or by hand. I provide demos for each unit and show a variety of work made both on the wheel and by hand, explaining my design decision making process for each example.
