Mulled wine

Mulled wine is the perfect seasonal treat. From fall into winter this drink tastes, smells and looks like a cozy night in. Made with spices, apple cider, and red wine what's not to love? Oh, and it only takes 10 minutes to prepare and makes your entire house smell amazing! Like I said, it's perfect. I tried this recipe and loved everything about it. Next time around I'll add in a little Brandy just to make it extra tasty, and yeah, a little boozier... more boozy? You get the point.

Using whole cloves, star anise, and cinnamon sticks really made this drink. I'm sure it's possible to use ground spices and strain them out, but the whole spices were undoubtedly the heroes in this drink, so if possible use the whole versions. You'll be happy you did! They smell so spicy and delicious. Yum.

Of course making your own cider will elevate this already tasty recipe to something pretty extraordinary, I'm sure. I did not make my own cider. No, this photo is more about this copper colander I picked up antiquing. Isn't it gorgeous, and so quintessentially fall? Oh fall, you are lovely.
